Biogas Desulfurization Industry

In September 2026, the China Biogas Society organized a technical seminar on the biogas desulfurization industry in Beijing. Attendees included industry experts from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology, the Institute of Environmental Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Huanghe Air Separation, the New Energy Division of CNPC Southwest Oil and Gas Fields, Tangshan Luyuan Environmental Protection, Shandong Lanlvqing, Hebei Luohe Technology, and Ilicana (Shanghai), engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions regarding the drafting of the national standards *Biogas Desulfurization Technology (Draft for Review)* and the *Biogas Desulfurization Industry Development Report*. Against the backdrop of the in-depth advancement of the “Dual Carbon” strategy and the quality improvement and capacity expansion of the biogas and biomethane industry, the removal of hydrogen sulfide from biogas is directly linked to industrial safety and the high-value utilization of biomass resources. The experts unanimously agreed that the selection of desulfurization processes, equipment configuration requirements, and product performance standards should align with the current policy context and industry realities. Emphasis should be placed on safety regulations and green, low-carbon principles to systematically present a comprehensive overview of China’s biogas desulfurization technology and industrial development, thereby providing technical guidance and standard support for government decision-making, industry investment, and project operation and maintenance. At the same time, the conference held thematic discussions on biogas membrane purification and the draft standard for bio-based carbon dioxide, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent advancement and implementation of the standard.
